THE BLACK EDITION is an international series of imaginary portraits by me, exploring how we remember the fallen from a time before and from beginning of photography.

From 2008 I travelled to different annual Napoleonic and German Empire reenactments in Germany, Belgium and Denmark to photograph the "soldiers" who taking part. The photographs are made on the fields where the battle was fought.

During the days of the recovery of the bicentenary of the battle at Waterloo in 2015, I was among the only 111 accredited photographers from 33 different countries worldwide.
